 BitTorrent
BitTorrent is a freeware program used for uploading and downloading files via the BitTorrent protocol. BitTorrent was the first client written for the protocol with the similar name.
The BitTorrent client enables users to search for and download torrent files. BitTorrent is easy to install and use, but it is not the BitTorrent client with the most advanced features.
The current client enables a range of features including multiple parallel downloads. It also intermediates peering between itself, source file servers; trackers, and other clients, thereby yielding great distribution efficiencies. The client also enables users to create and share their own torrent files.
These ".torrent" files which are needed to download files can be found on torrent user community websites. The largest torrent sites at the moment are:

 Azureus
Azureus is a Java-based BitTorrent client, with support for I2P and Tor anonymous communication protocols.
Azureus offers more advanced features than the BitTorrent client, for example each individual download is highly configurable.
Azureus features:
- Azureus allows users to specify maximum upload and download speeds and is configurable.
- Azureus allows users to open some files that have been completed before the entire torrent from within the program.
- Azureus can serve as its own tracker, allowing users to share their own files with others without uploading it to any site.
- Azureus supports Message stream encryption, an anti-throttling method. Peer exchange and the magnet: URI scheme are supported.
- An integration with the Nodezilla Grid Network is implemented as a plugin, enabling the anonymous storage, sharing and publication of torrent files.
- Azureus also features multiple ways of viewing a file, such as Swarm, Peers, and Pieces.
It is possible to add extra functionality to Azureus by installing plugins.

 BitComet
The BitComet client is a P2P file-sharing program compatible with the BitTorrent protocol, one of the most popular P2P protocols designed for high-speed distribution of large files.
BitComet supports simultaneous downloads, download queuing, selected downloads inside a torrent package, Mainline DHT, fast-resume, protocol encryption, disk cache, speed limits, port mapping, peer exchange (PEX), UDP NAT traversal, proxy, and IP filtering. BitComet contains an embedded Internet Explorer window which enables users to search for torrents within the torrent client.
BitComet features:
- First and last portions of media files are prioritized, allowing file previews.
- Configuration is automatically set to match the connection type.
- Memory cache is used to reduce the read/write frequency of the PC hard drive.
- BitComet users behind a NAT can connect with each other by UDP.
- Auto-configures certain firewalls and NAT devices using UPnP.
- Prioritization of individual download files.
- BitComet uses the Kademlia (mainline) DHT to operate even when the tracker is offline.
- Support for Multi-tracker, utf-8 extension, and UDP tracker Protocol v2.
